ill-t is a producer and dj. Based in the eastern region of johannesburg, Ekurhuleni to be precise. His love for music became apparent when he was given a Peter tosh tape by his brother as a present for passing with good grades at high school. This happened at the age of 14. thats when he realised his passion and love for music. At school ill was always that boy with most tapes, from reggae, kwaito,disco, soul to RnB ( soft music as they use to call it).
After matric he studied Environmental health at Tecknikon Northern Gauteng as he could not be allowed to study musi by his parents. We all know how it is with parents, we can't blame them. Currently ill holds two positions; as an Environmnetal health practioner at Ekurhuleni metropolitan municipality and Manager for Madjepe Rekordz.
In 2008 Early Development album was completed but was never shelved due to industry 's hustles. But that did not stop him from promoting the album.The album was sold from the boot of the car. He then formed a street team to help push the Rekord on the street and it sold a substantial number of copies. Three music videos named "love & happiness, the element, and noma bangathini"were shot so as to boost the the publicity. Fortunately for ill-t, the videos received more rotation on sabc 1 than most of the known brands and his peers (upcoming artists). The videos were also featured on sabc's friday nite show called Live.
